SRC Rainbow Day: Fundraising for Friendship

To finish off a wonderful Term 3, our Junior School SRC hosted a vibrant Rainbow Day fundraiser to support the purchase of a Buddy Bench—a special seat where students can go when they’re unsure how to spend their playtime, helping promote friendship and inclusiveness.

The SRC have been exploring the character strength of kindness and identified inclusiveness as a key school value to focus on. Their dedication and teamwork led to the idea of the Buddy Bench. Each bench also supports Dolly’s Dream, a cause close to our hearts.

On Rainbow Day, each class wore a different colour, and we came together to form a whole-school rainbow photo—symbolising unity, kindness, and support for one another.

A huge thank you to our SRC for their hard work and leadership!

Year 3 STEM challenge

On the final day of Term 3, our Year 3 students came together across classes for an exciting STEM challenge that had everyone thinking like engineers! During the middle session, students were given a simple set of materials—just 30 pieces of paper and a roll of sticky tape—and a big challenge: build a ball run that makes the ball travel as slowly as possible from start to finish.

Working in small mixed-class teams, students brainstormed, designed, and tested their creations, experimenting with ramps, tunnels, zig-zags, and spirals. The room was buzzing with collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving as students adjusted angles, reinforced structures, and cheered each other on.

This hands-on engineering task encouraged students to think critically while also practicing teamwork and perseverance. It was wonderful to see so many innovative designs and proud faces as each group tested their final ball runs.It was a fantastic opportunity for students to explore engineering concepts while having fun and learning together!
