Year 3

"Sport at St Anthony's is brilliant! There is a range of sports & competitions for Athletics including Zone, Mackillop and State . Louis and I made it to Cross Country and that was a great experience for all of us that made it from Years 2-6.

I made it to Mackillop Swimming Championships and that was fun. In Term 2 we had our Athletics Carnival and we had lots of incredible parents that volunteered for timing and measuring. We are looking forward too doing Rugby League next semester. Some of us qualified to compete at the Conference 1 Athletics Championships. Our school registered people from age 8-12 to represent St Anthony's in many events including relay, shotput,100m, 200m, 800m, high jump and long jump.

In our Sport lessons at school we have been developing skills for Netball. We have a Sport lesson on Monday every week. We all enjoy it we love Miss Claffey being our sport teacher, she has guided us through all our events and helps us keep calm when we are nervous." - Louis & James

Year 5

"In school one of the things I particularly liked is my Sport lessons. We have them every Monday and Friday with our incredible teacher Miss Claffey. Every week we learn something new and fun. Miss Claffey has organised many tutors to come in and teach the class about all the sports all over the world. One of my favourite events is the Athletics Carnival. We hold it every year and this year Miss Claffey has assigned me to five events in the zone level along with some other students. Every week I learn so much and I always look forward to every sporting event." - Luke

"Over the past semester, I have been given the opportunity to participate in many extra curricular sports activities such as: going to Zone (second round) and Mackillop (third round) for swimming, being chosen for the netball team and Zone (second round) for shotput and the relay team. Alongside me throughout all of these journeys has been one of our wonderful teachers Miss Claffey (the year 6 teacher and sports teacher). Miss Claffey is our sports teacher and she has made our sports lessons so enjoyable." - Bianca

Year 6

"I have had many amazing opportunities to represent St Anthony's Clovelly in many sporting events like the Conference 1 swimming championships, advanced netball gala days, Netball trials for the SCS netball team, Cross Country, but sadly sprained my ankle and couldn't do it, all in just half a year. I'm lucky enough to be going to the next round of the Athletics Carnival, as I had a qualifying time for 100m in the school Athletics Carnival. I was so happy when I found out that my sports team was the winning house as I am the captain of Mackillop! Miss Claffey is always trying to help out and motivate me to do my best. I am so grateful for all the opportunities that she has given me." - Ella

"This year I participated a the Netball Trial. If we made it to the next round then we’d be representing the Sydney Catholic Netball Team. Ella, Sienna, Freya and I went to Heffron Centre and had to play 4 half games of netball. We had so much fun! Me and some girls from year five and six were selected to be a part of the St Anthony's Netball team. We got in a taxi to Heffron Park and played quite a few games. My positions were GA and GS. I love playing netball and I loved playing it even more with my friends from school. The whole of Stage 3 were invited to play against other Sydney catholic schools in netball. We took a bus to Heffron park and played quite a few games. My teammates were exceptional! We won almost every game.  We had a blast and I look forward to keep playing Netball in high school. Recently, all of Stage 3 were invited to a Soccer Gala Day. We may not have won that many games but we had such a good time.  Every Monday and Friday we do sport up in the Green Playground. I always look forward to doing sport with Miss Claffey because it’s always fun and I get to play fun games with my friends." - Emily
