Principal's Report

Tim Mulhall - Principal

Welcome back to school for Term 3.  There are many wonderful activities ahead. This term promises to be packed with a variety of engaging opportunities, which has been kicked off by our 3/4 Camping program, soon to be followed by house athletics, enriching excursions and incursions, and the ever-popular annual Disco!

As we continue our school improvement journey, our focus remains steadfast on supporting our students to thrive in their learning and wellbeing.

We look forward to a term filled with growth, exploration, and achievement for all our students.

Parents School Survey

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 29 July to Friday 30 August 2024.

All families are invited to participate in the survey.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home. P

Please reach out to the school directly if you have any questions or for survey guides in your language.

The survey will be sent out next week.

NAPLAN Reports and Information Guide

For those families who have had a student participate in NAPLAN this year, you can now collect their individual reports from the office.

I encourage all parents to read these, however it is worthwhile keeping in mind that this is a snapshot of your child’s academic achievement. While NAPLAN is informative, it is difficult for any short test to determine exactly what a student does or does not know.

As a school we use the information from NAPLAN, combined with school-based assessments, and our teacher’s observations and expertise to understand what our students know and what they can do.

Volunteers

Our school thrives on the support and involvement of our wonderful community, and we are always looking for volunteers to enrich our students' learning experiences and school environment. There are many ways you can contribute, including assisting with student learning support in areas such as reading, spelling, and math. You can also help by supporting student clubs, working to improve the school's grounds through activities like working bees and the Garden Club, or lending a hand in the canteen or Breakfast Club on Thursday mornings. Additionally, volunteers are needed for school events, excursions, and camps. Your time and effort make a significant difference, and we greatly appreciate any level of involvement. Join us in making our school an even better place for our students to learn and grow.

If you would like to get involved at the school, please reach out to discuss further.

Our next volunteer induction is happening this term. I was hoping to have dates ready by now, unfortunately my delayed return has impacted being able to settle on a date.

Health Update

Unfortunately, I am yet to return to school this term. I had an extended stay in hospital over the term break which continued into the beginning of the term. I am ok, but I have had to take time to recover. I am now home and hopeful that my recovery will allow me to return to school in the short term.

I understand that this may cause some inconvenience, and I sincerely apologise for any disruption this may cause to the students and the school community. Rest assured, I am committed to keeping up with my responsibilities and will do my best to stay in touch and support the school remotely during my absence. I am hoping that I will be able to return back to school in the coming week/s.

Warmly,

Tim Mulhall
