Kids Corner

The “Kids’ Corner” section of our school newsletter provides the opportunity for the children to showcase their talents or communicate something special. 

This fortnight, some of our very talented Year 4 children would like to showcase their poetry skills - I trust you enjoy reading them just as much as I did. 

The Sun – by Erin.

The sun, the ball of light,

Shining through the air so bright.

Smiling at the leaves, at the sky, at me.

Sitting on the bench at a peaceful park,

Souring through my imagination,

Seeing what no man could see. 

A nightmare – by Javis

Demons accompanied me,

As my heart kept them at bay.

The void of darkness,

A never ending day.

My life a story I could never ever get.

I couldn’t cheat life, just not yet.

As life was turning grey and dull,

I stood there,

Defining a message no one could convey.

Klarissa in Year 3A sent me a recount of Ms I's last day at school:

Ms I ‘s Farewell on Fri 14 June 

In the morning after my mum and I came to school, we saw Ms I and some other teachers. So, we decided to wait 10 minutes before we got out of the car. When we went in the building we looked to see if there were any spots to hide the stuff for the surprise that we had planned. Then we went to the car to get the presents and hid at the front of the grade three building. My mum then told me to go and get the card from the office. As I was going to the office, I saw Nethanya and her friend, she asked me where I was going, and she told me that she had a present to give Ms I. Once I got to the office I asked one of the staff if I could have the card and she went to the back to look for the card. When she came back, she told me it was at Mr Catalano’s office. So, I went to his office and once I saw him, I asked him if I could grab the card. After I gave the card to my mum, I told her I was grabbing Nethanya’s gift, and she told me to ask any other children in my class to give their presents if they had one, to me. I was about to grab Nethanya’s gift when she popped up from somewhere and she grabbed her gift, and we went to my mum. After a while we saw Deana and Ethan and as Nethanya was cold, Deana, Ethan, and I went to grab her jacket as a distraction to the fact that our teacher was in the classroom. This enabled my mum and Ethan’s mum to put the presents and the card in the tall blue cupboard nearby.

Once the bell went, we went to up at our line with the rest of 3Awesome. When Miss Mosquera came to get us, we went inside and sat on the floor. When Mr Catalano came in and said, “Hello Ms I!” my mum came in the classroom followed by some other parents. Then Mr Catalano unleashed a heap of balloons from a large bag. Then all the children grabbed some balloons, and it was total mayhem. Deana and I had a balloon fight😆. When Ms I got her presents, she was so happy and shocked. Then Ms I and Mr Catalano made a speech and my class, and I listened. Then we had 2 photos with Ms I and Miss Mosquera then once Mr. Catalano left, we had a photo where we threw balloons up while saying “BABY!”. 

After we settled down, we went to library 📚. I borrowed 2 books 📚. When we came back, we did some reading (probably for missing out on silent 🔇10). Ms I showed the class all the cute little baby clothes that were given to her. Deana pointed out that Oli is famous because there is a shop that my mum got one of the clothes from called Ollies shop. Then we had gem chat (gem chat is where we talk🗣️ about something that basically made us happy today or this week). In gem chat we met our new pet from fuzzmania that had taken over from Eddie, as Eddie was being taken home for “Baby Frank”. Then the bell rang 🔔 for recess. Me and my friends ran out of the classroom 👩‍🏫to the pyramid in the playground 🛝. We are always the first one to reach the pyramid. We played tag on the pyramid until the end of recess. Once our class was inside, we did maths, well fun maths. In maths we did a maths time kahoot. Before lunch we did a fun children’s kahoot. It was one that had movie characters and one of the questions was ‘what school did Harry Potter go to,’ it was so fun! Ms I told us that she made these a long time ago. Just 12 questions to the end of the kahoot the announcement 📣 for bin 🚮 time so Anusha took me, and we were the first one there! Afterwards, whilst we were eating our lunch 🥪 we were talking about the party 🎉. After the bell 🔔 went we all hid behind the grade building and waited for Ms I to get lunch at the Glen. Ms I was taking a long time, so Miss Mosquera had to kick her out of the building. Once she was out of the room, we all came in and decorated the room. We closed 3D’s door so she couldn’t see if she came back. We moved the tables into a long table and put the food and drinks on it. The food and drinks was supplied by Arya and Anusha.Then we spread the balloons 🎈 around on the ground and wrote on some of the balloons. Then while we were decorating an alphabetical letter each in partners for a banner, Deana’s sister and her friends wrote our learning intention on the board😆. After the party Ms I gave us a present. As we have a wall of honour which is where we put our very small pencils, she gave us a pencil. And as she calls us silly geese 🪿she also gave us a silly geese badge. Then the bell went, and as we all went home  🏠 we gave her final hugs.
