From the Principal
I am very pleased to note this week that the Woodville Gardens School Children's Centre has been nominated for a Public Education Award in the category of Innovation in teaching and learning.
The SA Public Education Awards provide an opportunity for us to celebrate public education, share our stories and inspire others. Showcasing excellence and equity, the awards recognise the crucial role our people play in helping children and young people to learn and thrive.
The preschool team set out to reflect on our Preschool learning spaces and the opportunities that were presented to children to foster creativity, self-regulation, collaboration, and the co-construction of knowledge.
The Preschool team have been implementing the ROSIE Scale (Rating and Observation Scale for Inspiring Environments) and used it to develop highly engaging and inspiring learning spaces for our children.
The outcome of this work has increased the engagement of families when the see, and engage with the children’s learning, as well as the children’s ability to take charge of and resource their own learning within an engaging and predictable learning environment.
Staff and leadership presented this work to other Preschool leaders in term 2, as an example of best practice.
We are very proud of the work this team has undertaken to support a culture of high expectations, that also promotes a love of learning and enables our children and young people to think creatively.
