50 Years - 1974-2024

In 2024 we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of East Doncaster Secondary College 

To mark this special occasion we have events happening throughout the year.

50th Anniversary Concert

Last week we were proud to showcase the extensive talents of the East Doncaster Secondary College community with our 50th Anniversary Concert. I am certain everyone in attendance would agree that the evening produced absolute joy. Our talented students, both present and past, were nothing short of inspiring and everyone in the audience left with a smile on their face.

The evening was a true celebration of the Performing Arts at EDSC over the College’s history. We were all taken on a nostalgic journey with a range of performances that reflected College productions from long ago as well as those that celebrated more recent performances. The evening was a celebration of our talented musicians, singers, dancers, actors, composers and even an impressive magician.

It was wonderful to hear from some of our alumni who have forged careers in the performing arts and who spoke so eloquently about their experiences at EDSC and beyond. Our 50th Anniversary Concert serves as a reminder of why the performing arts is so crucial to young people’s social and emotional development. The importance of the skills students develop, the connections they make and the sense of belonging they gain, is beyond measure. The sense of community and belonging that students attending our College develop is also evidenced by the eagerness with which past students embraced the opportunity to return to the EDSC stage. 

I thank each of our performers who made the evening so special and our passionate staff members for their hard work and dedication that resulted in a truly enjoyable evening for all and certainly a nostalgic one for many.

A great deal of work and organisation always occurs behind the scenes for such events. While I will not mention everyone by name, special acknowledgment must be given to Evan Jones and Norm Grimmett. Their hard work and unwavering commitment were instrumental to bringing this very special anniversary concert to life. On behalf of the College community, I am immensely grateful for their invaluable contributions.

Once again, congratulations to all involved in what was absolutely an undeniable success.
