How Can You Help?
When the Northern Bay College Challenge was launched there was significant community interest and an overwhelming generosity from corporate and individual donors. Each donation, large or small has contributed to our achievements in making a difference to individual students, whole families, and the general well-being of the college. This individual and community support was combined with Government funding strategies to allow students at Northern Bay College to realise their significant potential.
We have made a difference in a number of areas including environments, learning spaces, teaching and learning programs and student retention. The journey to deliver quality educational outcomes across our school community is rewarding to those of us with a passion for enhancing opportunities for young people.
College Leadership and staff will continue the journey but as you have read there are so many opportunities to further ensure student successes which are beyond school or family funding. The ‘Challenge’ for Northern Bay College has always been to maximise the potential of the community – from staff and families to CEOs and business leaders, and from the school grounds to the suburbs, State and beyond. A college supported by the whole community.
Goldsworthy Campus Build
Our new arts and performance centre is remarkable. To make it excellent we require funds which government doesn't provide for:
- A Year 10 student focus group in 2020 wanted a building that would stop traffic. "Wanted something seen by the community that is pretty amazing and meaning school is important. A symbolic investment within the community."
- We do not have a facility where all staff (approx 400) can meet at once. The current building seats approximately 250 people. Hence requiring the theatre to be extended.
Building Fund:
Contribution to this building program would be considered as a seperate donation fund as there are different considerations for donations to this specific cause..
This will also allow for readiness of funds to be used for this project.
For further details please discuss with Challenge Committee Chair Ken Harrison or College Principal Scott Diamond, who would be happy to discuss further.
Tax time?
(a) Donations - Have you thought about donating to a NBC scholarship to assist a very worthy student to achieve their ambitions? A donation of $1000 would make this possible.
(b) Annual support - no matter how big or small would enable NBC to ensure it can continue to make a difference in the lives and achievements of its students.
Please support us if you are able to.
(c) Alumni fund - have you thought about giving back to the college that gave you so much? Why not join our Alumni and consider an annual donation or mentorship.
Tax Deductible Donations can be made through The Geelong Community Foundation using this form.
How can you continue to support The Challenge?
- Financial contributions, donations and bequests will always be needed to fund initiatives.
- Contact the Board if you know potential partners for employment pathways partnerships, apprenticeships, work experience etc.
- Consider within your Network if a colleague, relation or friend is in a position to be Challenge Club Member who could give a few hours a semester to mentor a young student whose experiences have limited access to adult expertise.
Contact can be made by email northern.bay.p12@education.vic.gov.au
or via Deb Barclay (Executive Assistant) (03) 5245 3501.
A sincere thanks to our supporters from the Northern Bay Challenge Committee
