On Monday 20 May 2024, twenty-one Year 7 students from across all four junior campuses attended a Presentation Ceremony for the 2024-25 NBC Year 7&8 Scholarship cohort.
The event, held in the Goldsworthy Campus Theatre, and was attended by the students’ family and friends, campus leadership and staff as well as members of the NBC Challenge Committee.
During 2023, the 21 students engaged in a process involving a written application and, if shortlisted, presenting at interview. This Scholarship group is made up from students who will be focusing within one of our four scholarship pillars:
· Academic
· Science and Technologies
· Sport, Physical Education and Health
· The Arts
I would particularly like to thank Deb Barclay, scholarship presenters Jana McElhinney, Bettina Atwill, Ben Lowery, Steven Lewry, Amanda Baulch, film and photography support Zoran Petkov and Brandon Dellow, IT and audio support from Brad Sowden and Kiyah Relouw for their assistance in ensuring that the day was a success.
The process to identify our 2025-26 NBC Year 7&8 Scholarship cohort will be launched during Term 2 with applications opened in Week 3 of Term 3, 2024.
During Term 1, two current Northern Bay Year 9 students Hel Thaw Ser and Elizabeth McKernan, were our first students to be awarded the prestigious national Harding Miller scholarships worth $20,000 over four years of Years 9-12.
The scholarship includes a high-quality laptop in the first year as well as four years of;
Each scholar is allocated a personal coach who supports and guides them through the four years of the program. We have over 80 volunteer coaches working with us. Many have experience in the education sector and all of them are committed to helping the girls excel.
We also provide an enrichment program to introduce scholars to a range of career experiences and broaden their horizons about possible tertiary education pathways. Some of the organisations we work with include USYD, UNSW, Ernst and Young, Allen & Overy, ANZ Bank, HoustonKemp, John Holland Group and Mastercard to name a few.
Year 11 VCE – Vocational Major student Thomas Vanderpol has been successful in securing a $2,000 John Wade Memorial Education Scholarship from the Geelong Community Foundation.
The scholarship aims to support Thomas with the funds being allocated as required for the benefit of Thomas’ education (including his training to become a Chef) and to assist with the completion of Year 12.
