Hakea House
Hello everyone, I am Ali R. I am Hakea’s trusted Year 10 Student Council Representative.
Being a leader for my peers has been an incredible experience. It has taught me responsibility, a key skill that will benefit my future, and given me the chance to enhance our school's community. I look forward to upcoming events like Chorales and Interschool Sports, where we can proudly represent our House and school.
A huge thank you to all the brave students who stepped out of their comfort zones to represent our House. Your efforts earned us 3rd place in the recent Athletics Carnival and inspired other Hakea students to do the same. Let's keep this passion growing and aim for first place in the upcoming Chorales night where we belong!
Speaking of first place, a big congratulations to the Intermediate and Senior boys' soccer teams for winning their divisions. We can't wait to see you guys dominate Regionals! I'm also excited for Hakea to shine in Chorales with our song "Wake Me Up". You don't have to be a singer to join, just sing loudly and enjoy the free food.
This year, Hakea has decided to raise funds for The Smith Family, a national charity dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children in Australia. I highly encourage everyone to participate in our fundraising events. Not only is it a chance to help those in need, but it's also a great way to come together as a community. Plus, it’s a great excuse to eat lots of food at the sales.
I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday. Take this time to relax and recharge (especially from the exams) so we can come back stronger next semester ready to achieve more.

Intake 76 Highlights
Hi, my name is Marcus. I come from Dandenong High School and I am in Year 9. Today, I will be sharing with you my highlights from Operation Newstart.
My all-time favourite activity at Newstart was when we went to Phillip Island to go surfing. Even though I didn’t have the best swimming ability, I still gave it a go. It was fun to surf with the boys and it was nice to see almost everyone give it a try.
Another one of my favourite days was rapping with Motley. It was fun to learn how to rap by following the three golden rules: rhyming (two bars had to rhyme), timing (making sure the line was four beats long) and aligning (making sure everything made sense). It was nice to hear our song at the end of the day; I think it actually sounds pretty good.
My final highlight of Operation Newstart was caving at Britannia Creek Cave. At first, I was terrified to go into the cave but as I was going through it, it became easier and easier. Coby and I encouraged each other the whole way through and we made it out alive.
I would like to thank Newstart for getting me out of school, giving me the opportunity to achieve things I would have never tried and for building up my confidence.
