Seed Saving to Serving Sustainable Food
As recipients of a 2024 Woolworths Junior Landcare grant, we are continuing with our project to create a more sustainable school food production cycle through saving seeds, propagation of plants and setting seeds. This week the F/1 and 2/3/4 class learnt about the biology of a seed with Jo Thompson. This will enable them to gain an understanding of how a seed grows once planted into the right conditions. This knowledge will prepare them for propagating seeds for the vegetable garden in term 3.
The students made their own models of seeds in cross-section and learnt the names of the different parts of a seed and how they sore food in the cotyledon for their germination process.
It was fun because we got to learn about different things of a seed. We made bean seeds out of Plasticine - Rubi, year 4

Slow Fashion Clothes Swap
Thank you to all the families that brought in clothes for the Slow Fashion Clothes Swap. Many of the students were able to put others' discarded clothes to good use, excited by choosing a "new" item of clothing.
The years 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 students have been learning about fast fashion and its impact on the environment. They have also been exploring ways to reduce the impact. The clothes swap was a great way to pass clothes that they no longer wear, to others.
