Division Tball

Congratulations to our Division tball team who progressed from last terms Lightning Prem sports.

The team headed to Pakenham last Friday to play four games against schools from the Casey South Division.

The team represented the school fantastically and gave it their all even though they were missing some players.

Well done team - such a great accomplishment.

Thanks to Mrs Allerton for coaching the team and the parents for transporting the students and being the cheer squad.

Soccer - Both soccer teams tried their best all day with lots of great passing and saved by the goalkeepers.

Netball - Both teams had fantastic days with lots of goals scored and wins on the board. Thanks to Mandi H, Jo C and Tayla for their assistance on the day.

Tball - both teams played in good spirits the whole day with the boys team coming out on top based on runs scored throughout the day. They progressed to the Division finals, which is a great achievement.

Staff vs Students Netball

This game drew a large crowd on the hardcourt area. The students had put themselves into 5 teams to battle the staff who were led by the competitive Mrs Forbes.

Needless to say the game was played in good spirits however the fast paced style of the staff meant they came out on top.

The students are looked for redemption when we switch to basketball next term.

St Johns First Aid in Schools Incursion

Last term all  all classes attended a 45 minute first aid incursion run by St Johns. The knowledge and skills gained in these age appropriate sessions increase first aidawareness in school children and contribute to building a more resilient community.

Junior School

The junior school are starting off with the skills required to be a friend. Identifying the skills, role playing them and talking about how they feel if someone isn't acting like a friend.

Middle School

The middle school have begun discussing how we can be better candle protectors rather than flame blower outers. When we encourage and support our friends for what they achieve rather than trying to beat them we create a more caring classroom environment.

Senior School

The senior school have started their units on the TV shows Hardball and Mustangs. We will be unpacking gender and cultural representation, the importance of celebrating our differences and unpacking how the characters deal with challenges within their families and friendships.

Junior School

This term we are looking into physical change and conducting investigations with different objects, including everyday and natural materials.  This week we made predictions and comparisons about how the shapes of objects made from different materials can be physically changed through actions such as bending, stretching and twisting. We investigated what we could find in nature that could bend, stretch and twist. We discovered some natural clay on the oval and had lots of fun making physical changes.

Middle School

The Year 4's are back in the kitchen and have not forgotten their knife skills. They did an excellent job julienning the vegetables for our Vietnamese Rice Paper Rolls. Our first batch of dipping sauces were not the best but when we threw away the recipe and relied on our taste buds the results were amazing.

The Year 3's learnt about the different parts of a flowering plant and what each of those parts do. We played a game with our table team trying to match parts to their meaning and finally built and labeled our own flower.

Foundation and Junior School

Term 3 is all about coding! All F-2 classes have spent the first 2 weeks getting to know our friendly Beebots and have explored how to code them with an algorithm to make them go in a predetermined direction. We started by coding our beebots to find a unifix block on the floor and we have moved onto mapping their journey on a grid. Students really enjoyed pretending their Beebot was Mario and coding it to 'save' the princess without running into the evil Bowser! Every class couldn't get enough of the Beebots.

Middle School

We have been learning about three different types of algorithms, flowcharts, pseudocode and code. We have been working on creating our own flowcharts and pseudocode to share with our class and have learnt that for algorithms to work effectively they need to be very specific.

Senior School

We are learning all about user interfaces (UI) for digital systems, we have explored what they are and problems that can occur. We are moving on to analyzing what makes a successful UI  and  investigating the importance of quality design and design principles in creating an efficient and effective user interface.
