Specialists
Our Specialist days remain the same for Term 4.
Tuesday - Physical Education (PE)
Wednesday - Visual Arts and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)
Thursday - Italian each odd week.
Friday - Performing Arts each even week.
All Foundation students will continue to participate in our PMP (Perceptual Motor Program). From Term 4, this will be taking place on Mondays only. The students can now wear their sports uniform for PMP. We will be continuing to remove their shoes and socks. We would appreciate it if you could practice this at home and please make sure their shoes and socks are clearly labelled.
Please note: This means that ALL Foundation students need to wear their sports uniforms on MONDAY (PMP) & TUESDAY (for PE).
Library Day
We will continue to visit the library on Fridays so please make sure your child has their library book to return and their library bag with them.
Take Home Reading
Students will continue to bring home a decodable reader that aligns with the most recent stage of sounds we have completed - for most of Term 4, this will be a stage 5 book, moving on to Stage 6 by mid-term.
These books contain considerably more text than previous stories. While students have developed the sound knowledge required to read these texts, it is normal for them to lose stamina throughout the book - therefore it is important to note that reading the full book each night is not a requirement, and it is okay to read only a few pages, or read only one page and focus on rereading to build appropriate expression and understanding. You can also continue with other activities related to the book - for example warming up by reading the speed words and sounds at the back of the book, using the QR code at the back of the non-fiction (Little Learners, Big World) books to further explore the subject, or practising spelling and writing using words or sentences from the book. This only needs to be 10-15 minutes per day.
If your child is becoming overwhelmed with the amount of text, feel free to come and chat to me so we can adjust the home reading to best suit them.
