Class Information

The Foundation students have had a busy couple of weeks with swimming, athletics and their incursion. It has been wonderful to see the growing independence with swimming lessons as well as the excitement of the students as they are participating. The students have all worked extremely hard this term and we hope you have a lovely two-week break.

WEEKLY AWARDS

Each Monday afternoon, one student from each class receives an award. This term, awards are given to students displaying the qualities of Henry Backhaus including independence, persistence, using their initiative and doing something which may challenge them. Award winners will be acknowledged at the next assembly on the slide show. Congratulations to the award winners for Term 3 weeks 8 and 9.

HOLIDAY HOMEWORK

The Foundation students have been learning lots of new tricky words each week and as the term progresses, we will continue to learn more. Prior to the school holidays we will provide each child with a list of tricky words which we have learned in class. Could you please continue to practice the tricky words with your child each day over the holidays. Students will also be provided with readers to continue their reading routine. Within the first week of Term 4 further assessments will be undertaken, so it's vital that you continue to work on these words and reading regularly.

GOALS

Today student goal comments were released for each student. Please ensure you have a look at your child’s goals and reach out if you are unable to access these.

FOUNDATION LEARNING FOCUS

Literacy

  • Sounds- ‘v’ ‘y’ ‘x’
  • Students have been using the sounds they have learnt to write words within sentences. They have been introduced to more digraphs over the last two weeks which are two letters making the one sound.
  • Students are focusing on including capital letters, full stops and spaces between their words when writing sentences, as well as having a go at writing independently.
  • Tricky words: put, as, do, go, so, no, this, then
