SunSmart

As part of our Sun Protection policy, students must wear a sunsmart hat outdoors from September 1st to April 30th. This is for all sporting events, excursions, break times and classes that take place outdoors. We recommend the soft brimmed hats as the best option but hard brimmed hats are suitable as well.

MPPS encourages all staff and students to apply SPF 30+ (or higher) broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen daily at a minimum from mid-August to the end of April, and whenever UV levels reach 3 and above. We will have SPF 30+ available in all classrooms and staff will be encouraging and reminding students to utilise this throughout the school day.

Students who do not have a hat in the school yard will be asked to play in the shade or in a suitable area protected from the sun. We will be implementing the 'no hat, play under the olive tree' policy from Wednesday September 3rd.
