Cross Country – More Than Just Running

Cross country is a sport that demands far more than physical fitness. It teaches resilience, patience, and the ability to push through discomfort — lessons that extend well beyond the course. Every race is a mental challenge, requiring determination, focus, and the courage to keep going when every step feels like the hardest one yet. It’s also a reminder that progress isn’t always about finishing first, but about showing up, giving your best, and supporting those around you.

We are incredibly proud of our state-level runners who represented Middle Park Primary with grit and pride. Congratulations to Kale’a, who achieved an outstanding 12th place, and to Ben, who put in a tremendous effort to finish 65th in the state. Your hard work, dedication, and team spirit inspire us all.

Best of Luck to Our District Athletics Team!

Next Wednesday, 48 of our talented athletes will represent Middle Park Primary at the District Athletics Carnival at Duncan McKinnon Reserve. We wish every one of them the very best of luck as they compete across a variety of track and field events.

Athletics is a wonderful way for students to discover their strengths, challenge themselves, and experience the excitement of both individual and team competition. Events like these are about more than just results — they provide opportunities to build confidence, develop perseverance, and celebrate personal bests alongside school pride.

We’re incredibly proud of all our competitors for their hard work and dedication in preparing for this day. Most importantly, we hope they enjoy the experience, support one another, and make the most of this special opportunity to shine. Please reach out to jacqui@mpps.me if you would like more information on access to our community athletic programs.

Hockey Skills on the Rise at Middle Park!

Following the success of our Winter Playoff Hockey stars, we were thrilled to partner with the local Bayside and St Kilda Powerhouse Hockey Centre to deliver a fantastic program for our Grade 1–6 students. Over the course of the program, students learned and developed key skills such as stick handling, passing, dribbling, tackling, and teamwork — all while experiencing the fast-paced fun of hockey in a safe, supportive environment.

The program not only introduced many of our students to a new sport, but also helped them build confidence, coordination, and a love for trying something different.

If your child enjoyed the sessions — or would like to give hockey a go — the Bayside and St Kilda Powerhouse Hockey Centre offer a free Monday night ‘Give It a Try’ session and a school holiday program for varied abilities. If you’re interested, please reach out and we’ll provide you with the details.

3/4 Soccer Gala Day – What a Day at Fawkner Park!

Last week, our Grade 3/4 students took part in the annual Soccer Gala Day at Fawkner Park — an incredible event featuring 25 ovals and more than 90 teams from across the districts. The atmosphere was electric, the spirits (and the winds!) were high, and it was wonderful to see so many schools coming together to celebrate sport, friendship, and fair play.

Our students demonstrated outstanding teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the day. From supporting each other on and off the field to showing respect for opponents and referees, they embodied the true spirit of community participation. It was also a fantastic reminder of the role events like these play in building resilience, developing skills, and connecting students beyond their own school environment.

A huge thank you to the staff and parent volunteers who made the day possible — your time and effort allowed our students to experience a day full of fun, fitness, and shared success.
