IPSHA Gymnastics Carnival

On Thursday November 2 our team of gymnasts ventured out to the Sydney Gymnastics Centre in Rooty Hill to compete in the IPSHA Gymnastics Carnival. The team have been rigorously practising for the past couple of months in preparation for the competition.

Each competitor was required to complete a floor, beam, bar and vault routine. The girls performed outstanding and the pride in their faces after completing their routines that they had been working so hard for was great to see.

Well done to all girls involved and congratulations again on your results.

Year 10 Anna van Gelder competed in the elite Level 10 division at the IGSA Rhythmic Gymnastics Carnival. Her skills as she performs with  each apparatus are amazing and she is  a picture of composure. Anna has had a very successful year competing at the State and National Championships. At the IGSA Carnival, Anna won Silver in the Ball and Ribbon and Bronze in the Hoop. Congratulations Anna!

IGSA Water Polo

Last Saturday 11 November our Senior A Water Polo team played against St Vincents. It was one of the best games of Water Polo I have seen our Senior A team play this season and it was such an exciting game to watch. The scores were close for the majority of the game and it could have gone to either team. Our Kambala girls shone and came out victorious beating St Vincents 9-6. A big thank you to Sophie and Harriet who played in the Senior A game then backed up and played in their own game afterwards.

Our Senior B team were also victorious on Saturday, beating Ascham very convincingly 12-3. They have had a great season and it has been a pleasure to see the Year 8 students in this team improve each week.

Monday morning water polo fitness has been a huge success this term. A big thank you to all of the water polo players who attend each Monday morning. I know it isn’t always easy to get out of bed early, especially on a Monday! This week’s land session was a team event, with the winning team scoring themselves a Chargrill Charlie’s voucher. Congratulations to Emily, Sienna, Amelia and Camilla on winning the vouchers this week.

IPSHA Basketball - Mighty Year 4's

On Saturday 11 November I attended the IPSHA Basketball matches at Moore Park and got to watch our two mighty Year 4 teams play. Both teams played with gusto and determination and were able to win their matches against their respective opposition.

It is so great to see the enjoyment on each girl's face as she plays Basketball.

I am looking forward to watching the final week of Junior School sport this Saturday 18 November.

Alina Meers wins Gold

Congratulations to Year 6 Alina Meers on Gold in the Under 13 Triple Jump with a Personal Best of 10.06m. She is a member of South Eastern Little Athletics and her team won Gold in the Triple Jump for the second year in a row with a NSW State record! A great weekend of competition for Alina!

Team of the Week

Last weekend saw our Touch teams playing their last round of touch before the semi finals. I was impressed by Kambala 9 as I had heard from their coaches that each individual player had improved markedly throughout the season.  The team coached by Arabella Munro and Paul Robinson has a number of players playing in their first season of Touch. It takes courage to take on a new sport and it was exciting to see the girls working together as a team. The team scored some early tries and hoped to have their first win of the season.  While they didn’t win the match, it was great to see  their team work I strongly encourage all the girls to return next term and continue to improve their skills.

The Senior A team have shown great resilience having lost three matches in a row by one try. The team knew they had to win their final game against SCEGGS to play in the semi finals and it was once again a one try game but they were victorious in a nail biter 3-2. One player unavailable on the weekend was Year 12 Ava Kuehn who was invited to the NSW Future Blues camp at NRL Headquarters. The camp is for players identified as future NSW team members for the State of Origin series. We are extremely proud to say Ava began learning her Touch skills in Junior School under the tutelage of Head Coaches Josh Phillips and Brandon MacDonald who now coach her in the Senior A team.

Good luck to all our teams in the semi finals this Saturday!
