All Saints’ Day 2023
On Wednesday 1 November, the College community came together to celebrate All Saints’ Day. Students from Years 4–11 gathered in the Indoor Sports Centre for a Eucharist service led by Rev Liz, Father Bruce, and special guest Father Ernest Lennon from the Parish of Fremantle. The service was enriched with beautiful music, including items from the combined College Choir and Community Choir and the wonderful Guarneri Strings.
Following the service, the All Saints’ Day biscuits tradition continued and staff and students were very happy to receive their delicious biscuits. A special thank you goes out to Mrs Kaye Johns and her dedicated team for their hard work in baking over 2,000 biscuits for this event. These biscuits are always a highlight of the day.
The ECC to Year 3 students celebrated their own service in the afternoon, with lots of enthusiastic singing of ‘Oh When the Saints Go Marching in’. Our Year 3s led the service and were wonderful role models to the younger students.
As we all reflected on the legacy of all the saints who have gone before us, we were also reminded of how we can make choices in our lives, so they are meaningful and make a positive impact on the world. Happy All Saints’ Day!

ASC Contemporary Bands Rock the Stage with ‘Back to the Noughties’ Concert
Last Friday 27 October, the ASC Contemporary Bands rocked the stage and took us on a high-energy journey through the 2000s with their incredible rock concert, Back to the Noughties.
From epic instrumental solos and powerful vocals, it was a night filled with nostalgia, great music, and fantastic performances.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who attended the concert and showed their support for our exceptionally talented Music students. We trust that you had as much fun as they did!
Discard Your Stationary Items Responsibly: The Stationary Recycling Program
BIC’s Best in Class Free Recycling Program is an initiative by TerraCycle that ‘encourages the recycling of certain stationery tools that are commonly found in a classroom’. As part of the program, for every seven kilograms of materials sent to TerraCycle, the College will earn $1 in TerraCycle charity points. These funds can then be donated to a charity of the College’s choice.
We believe, in line with the College’s strategic goal of custodianship, that it is important to recycle stationary items that can be repurposed. By doing so, we get one step closer to helping our planet.
The recycling program accepts the following items:
- Any brand of stationery
- Pen soft plastic packaging
- Mechanical Pencils and eraser pens
- Empty correction tapes and correction fluid containers
- Markers, highlighters and pens
There are collection boxes in Nexus J and Nexus S where you can drop items off at any time. Sustainability Club will then organise for the stationery to be sent to TerraCycle.
Thank you for helping to divert waste from landfill, and saving precious resources.

Students Gain Valuable Insights on the Future of Fremantle
In an exciting and educational excursion, our Year 7 students recently had the opportunity to actively participate in the ‘Future of Fremantle’ project. The Youth Focus Group Session, a crucial part of Phase 2, provided them with a platform to share their insights and ideas, contributing to the development of land use scenarios in our community.
The session, held at the Walyalup Koort Civic Centre in Fremantle, was testament to the commitment of our College to engage students in real-world projects. They explored the intricacies of the project and gained a deeper understanding of the future of Fremantle.
This excursion seamlessly connected with ‘Project Utopia’, where our students played an active role in reimagining the future of Fremantle Port, taking into consideration its projected move to Kwinana. The insights gained from the Youth Focus Group Session not only enriched their understanding of the ‘Future of Fremantle’ project, but also gave them a unique perspective on the evolving landscape of our community.
A big thank you to Ms Lingensjo and Mr Wong for their support and making this excursion a success. This experience has undoubtedly left a lasting impact on our students’ educational journey, empowering them to be informed and engaged members of our community.
