From the

Acting Assistant Principal

Greetings everyone,

Whilst I am new to Rowville Primary School, I certainly learned quickly that Beyond Boundaries provides excitement across the school for all students. In my work at other schools, I have always been involved in camps and have espoused the benefits of such events for the children. Rowville Primary School has taken it even further to ensure that all year levels have an opportunity to go beyond their normal boundaries all in the same week, which is so beneficial to the student community.

The camps and excursions that have been organised by staff have the potential to

  • Build confidence.
  • Stimulate a sense of adventure and problem solving.
  • Encourage social interaction and building connections with peers and staff.
  • Promote independence and resilience.
  • Increase connection to the school community.

Children (and staff) come back from camp very tired but positive about their time away. These experiences provide children with the opportunity to challenge themselves and to undertake some activities that they may not ordinarily do. Every camp I have attended has ensured that the children also have the fabulous experience of cleaning up after themselves in the dining rooms. They learn about themselves, their peers and get to see their teachers in a different light.

Enjoy the stories that you will get on their return. I am sure the Foundation – Year 2 students will be just as excited about their activities this week and will regale you with what they have seen and done. Their excursions sound amazing and memorable.  I have just visited the Foundation classes and they are all looking a little tired today – (I heard ‘trick or treat’ mentioned too!).

Whether your child has been on an excursion, a 3-day camp or a 5-day camp, I hope you enjoy their excitement and storytelling once they are home.

Enjoy the rest of this week.

Kind regards,

Elaine Wilson
