Year 3

Bottle Flip

The Year 3 students spent time predicting, investigating and presenting findings for the investigation - 'What fraction of water in the bottle is best to flip a bottle'.

Students had 5 bottles with different fractions of water in it - empty, 1/4 full, 1/2 full, 3/4 full and full. The students flipped each bottle 20 times to see which bottle landed successfully upright the most depending on the fraction of water in the bottle. The students then represented their findings in graphs!

Year 5

Blackout Poetry

In Writing we have been creating Black out poems. A black out poem is when you get a piece of existing text and find words that catch your interest and can be turned into a poem.  You circle the words and then draw a picture that is related to the poem. You then black out the rest of the text leaving the picture and chosen words from the text.

I really enjoyed doing this activity because you could draw what you felt the words represented to you.
