Principal's News

Dear Armadale Community,
I hope you are all well and enjoying a taste of the summer to come. However, unfortunately these unusual windy and humid conditions have seen a spike in hospital admissions for thunderstorm asthma. Please remember to let the school know if your child/ren suffers from this specifically.
Junior Sports House Carnival
The children in Prep – 2 all enjoyed the sports activities this morning led by Proactivity and children in Year 6. They were all able to experience, AFL/AFLW; Soccer; Hip Hop dance; Fitness Obstacle; Karate; and Athletics. There was much laughter, cheers, movement, clapping and fun to be had by all participants.
Thank you to Peter Cracknell for all of his organisation and to all of the staff involved and a huge thank you to our parents for their generous donations of fruit platters for the children to enjoy. Thank you also to all the parents who came to watch and participated with the children at each rotation. Our Year 6 students were exemplary in supporting the younger children with their activities and leading them through their house chants at the concluding ceremony to end the sports day. All of the junior children performed so well that the House Cup was awarded to all the houses and each class will have the Cup in their room for a short time. Congratulations to all of the children in Prep to Year 2.
No dogs in our school grounds over the weekend!
I have really enjoyed listening to the children say they came to the school on the weekend and played in the playground. However, I was disappointed to see that people had brought their dogs in and the area in front of our café cubby house had been spoilt by dog excrement. Children had come back to school excited on Wednesday morning, to only then have unfortunately stepped in the excrement and were quite distressed.
If you are here on the weekends and happen to see other people using the playground and they have dogs with them, can you please ask them to take their dogs outside. We are upgrading our signage but, in the meantime, we may need your assistance. Thank you for your help with this.
Day 1 of our Strategic Review starts tomorrow!
Tomorrow, Craig Tanner will lead our review panel; Stuart, Connie, Zaim, Neven, Peter and myself through our 4 year review, looking at our highlights, our key achievements and challenges and then we will all have the opportunity to undertake learning walks in every classroom. The Panel will be looking closely at what our teachers are doing, what the children are doing; how our instructional model is being followed and whether the children have agency over their learning. I look forward to sharing the reflections from our Panel with you next week.
Next week
Next week is shaping up to be another busy one. On Monday I will be out of the school undertaking Gardenvale Primary’s Final Review Day as I have been one of their Challenge partners. On Monday, Zaim, Connie and Jon Anderson will meet with the Architects to discuss some of our concerns we have with the playground. On Monday night we have School Council.
On Tuesday, the SRC Curriculum and Education team will launch their time capsule at Assembly, which I will unfortunately miss as Connie and I are attending the Principal Forum at Caulfield racecourse with all of the schools in the Bayside Penninsula Area.
On Wednesday we are excited about our 3rd Prep Transition session with next year’s Preps, and on Friday the SRC Fundraising with the PFA team are running their FUN RUN.
Wonderful opportunities for all of our children to have their learning enriched and equally important are the opportunities for our community to be present and involved!
A recent visitor to our school, who frequents many other schools, said that this school just stands out for it’s welcoming feel, it’s inclusion of everyone and just how dedicated the staff are to the children. They finished off by saying, you just don’t see that at other schools.
