Boarding

The sound of laughter and fun was ringing through the boarding house in Week 3 as we welcomed our incoming students for 2024 for a sleepover and orientation into boarding life. Our Year 11 leaders organised a wonderful afternoon and evening for the girls with a tour of Rose Bay led by Phoebe Hallman, games on the oval and some trivia and messy games led by Kailani Bartlett, Audrey Gill and Hayley Green, followed by a movie and (some) sleep! It was particularly wonderful to watch our Year 7’s step up and be amazing buddies to the incoming girls, showing them around and being their ‘big sisters’ for the evening. We are looking forward to seeing them all here next year!

A fundamental part of the boarding experience is learning to live with others from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. We have so many girls from so many different places, within and outside of Australia, and an ongoing goal for boarding is the continual celebration of our different cultural backgrounds. With this goal in mind, Week 4 in boarding will see us celebrating NAIDOC week with our Yalari girls organising our formal dinner as well as some other activities throughout the week. It is a wonderful chance to celebrate the diversity we have in our boarding house and for our girls to learn more about Indigenous culture.
