Parks Victoria (Webinar)

On Friday, 20th of October, we attended a webinar held by Parks Victoria, in conjunction with Water Week to launch a book by a local author – Jordan Charters, titled ‘Sprinkle Streams Ahead’. The book’s main character ‘Sprinkle’ was a droplet of water. We followed their journey from the mountains of Victoria, down through streams and rivers, and pipes, out into Port Philip Bay. Along the way Sprinkle learns about conservation of our precious waterways (and animals) as they met a few of Parks Victoria’s faunal emblems, including Alpine Tree Frogs, platypuses and cuttlefish. The author then spoke about her writing process and took a Q&A from the schools who were remotely attending the session.

Writing & Reading: In Writing, students will be writing a letter to next year's buddies (Grade 4s) and next year's teachers (Grade 3s). We will also review how to write a Persuasive piece. In Reading, we will continue to engage in our small group reading activities as well as our weekly library sessions. Students will also continue to practise their Reading Goals in our regular 'Read-to-Self' sessions.

  • the location of the main town or city
  • the types of natural vegetation
  • built features such as monuments and sacred sites
  • a key using symbols like we looked at in the mapping lessons
