Then Prep Vernon will have Art and Prep Mortlock will have Auslan and Prep Floyd will continue with their activities.

Be Awesome Day

Thank you to all who have donated Jelly Beans for one of our activities. We appreciate your support.

We are kindly asking for volunteers for our three Prep Be Awesome Day stalls. There is a piece of paper outside the Prep rooms to write your name down, this can be found on the window where Prep Floyd line up. It contains the three stalls with 15 minute time slots to write your name if you are able to volunteer your time. This will include supervising/running the stall during your time slot. Your help and your time is greatly appreciated, as the teachers will be required to support the students on the day.

What we have been up to...

Fire Safety Visit One

On Monday, we had our first Fire Safety visit. We learnt about good fire and bad fire, to crawl low in smoke, what a safe meeting place is, what an emergency is and when to call 000 (Triple Zero).

Maths

Last week, we joined together to work on 3D shape. We had lots of fun learning about a cube, cone and sphere and working with students from different classes.

This week, we have been revising measuring by length and learning about subtraction. We measured ocean animals using different objects- blocks, counters, dice, making sure to line then up from end to end. We have been playing Subtraction Smash, where we have to roll the dice and place that amount of counters, then roll again and take off that number, then count the answer.

Reminders

Fire Safety- My Safe Place

Please complete and return worksheet before Monday the 30th. This is a great opportunity to discuss with and show your child where the Safe Place in your house would be, in case of an emergency. A recommended Safe Place is at the front of the house, by the letter box. This is so that the Emergency Services can see you when they arrive.

Getting reading for Grade 1

We are quickly approaching the end of the year and the end of our Preps first year of school. At this point in the year, we begin to prepare the Preps for Grade 1. Students should be lining up outside before the bell each morning and coming into the classroom independently. They should be able to unpack their bag independently each morning and remember their satchel from home. They should also be able to pack their bag at the end of each day independently, remembering their satchel, fruit snack container, jumper and drink bottle.

These are skills that we will be continuing to work on for the rest of the year and would love your support with encouraging your child to do these t
