3/4 Learning Community

We're following the Gleams!

Our 3/4 Journalists (Milla, Rosie, Aiden K, Alyvia and Amelie H) have put together their very first newsletter in their leadership roles! Please enjoy our summary of the 3/4 Learning community.

Literacy

In Literacy the Grade 3/4s have been writing to the Moonee Valley Council about the Windy Hill rebuild. What they want to happen, like if they want a playground or a better grandstand, toilets or a dog park, more bins and things to fix Windy Hill.

We also made a picture of what we want Windy Hill to look like to match our letter.

Numeracy

In numeracy we have been doing addition and subtraction. We have used number lines, vertical algorithm and fact families. There have been lots of problem solving tasks to use our strategies for. We are also learning about how we can use addition to solve subtraction and reverse. We think that math is great! In warm ups we have been doing quick addition and we have been doing number talks to prepare our thinking.

Inquiry

In inquiry, we have been creating posters, TED Talks, plays, board games and picture story books that have different ways of solving conflict. Like win/win or win/lose or lose/lose and stories of the Gleams. Students have worked hard to complete their projects and present them in front of their home group. We designed these projects so we can all resolve conflict, and to make peace and conflict more fun to learn about. Now everybody can feel safe at school and feel ready to learn and play. Some ways to avoid conflict are rock, paper, scissors, talk it out, and go to the calm space. By Aiden K

NAPLAN

Congratulations to our Grade 3s who sat their very first NAPLAN. They all showed great focus, resilience and responsibility in following the procedures and requirements. A well deserved hot chips was eaten in the park on Wednesday 27th March.
