Harmony Day

Friday, March 22nd

On Friday, March 22nd, EPS had a great Harmony Day celebration. The whole school participated in a Harmony Day Parade where students dressed in their traditional cultural clothes or wore the colour orange that signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. Students also took parts in a variety of activities that run by parents, grandparents and other family members who volunteered to teach and share the knowledge of their cultures. For the Harmony Day assembly, students from different activities shared their experiences that they took part in.  Many students expressed that they enjoyed learning something about the different cultures. The choir sang "Colours of the Wind" which is about respect for nature and seeing things from other people's perspectives. To wrap up the assembly, the students who participated in the Bollywood dancing performed the dance they learnt and the whole EPS community, families, staff and students participated in the dancing.  It was a wonderful day of a celebration of our cultural diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. I would like to extend my thanks to all the families who volunteered and contributed to the Harmony Day activities.
