VET Show

Years Eleven and Twelve VET Music students performed to a packed crowd on Wednesday evening performing renditions of a wide range of songs including Don’t Speak and Like A Girl by No Doubt, Radiohead’s You with Ella Anderson’s formidable belt, The Jacksons and the stomping finale of Peter Gabriel’s Sledgehammer, Lillian Burgess giving us a wonderful Japanese Jazz fusion. Another crowd favourite was the Smith’s This Charming Man; some wonderful work on the bass guitar by Katie Hartzell. Many thanks to Mr Fowler and Ms Luxton for all their work.

Larry from Kurrah Mia came into our Year One art class this week to speak with us about the Menang six seasons. He told us about the animals and plants that can be found in each season. At the moment it is Bunuru, the hottest time of the year. You can find the red and white tail cockatoos eating the gum nuts and there are lots of bees and wattle birds eating the nectar from the flowering Marri trees.

The Year Ones were all able to try on a kangaroo skin coat. It is worn fur side in when it is cold and wet in Makaru and Djilba. It can be worn fur side out to keep you cool in Birak and Bunuru.

Armed with the information that Larry gave us we are going to make art about the six seasons ready for the Kingfisher Arts Exhibition in Term Three.
