School of Foundations

The last few weeks of Term 1 in School of Foundations have been very productive with a wealth of exciting activities and learning opportunities for our students to engage in.

Thank you to the parents who attended the Kindergarten Information Afternoon in Week 8.

It was also a wonderful opportunity to visit the learning spaces with the Kinder students as guides to share their learning.

Harmony Week / Multicultural Day provided an opportunity for K-4 students to participate in an “Around the World Cultural Inquiry Project”. The cultures visited included: Indian, Filipino, African and Indigenous. As students progressed through the various cultural activities, they received a stamp in their “passports”.

Multicultural Day culminated in a whole school K-12 Cultural Showcase where students from across various grades shared cultural dances, traditions and musical entertainment.

During Holy Week our K-4 students participated in reflections on Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday and Good Friday. A joyous post Easter celebration of the risen Lord saw our K-4 students enthusiastically participate in an  Easter Hat Parade. Congratulations to all students on their colourful and creative hats! It was also great to see the parents enjoying this celebration.

This term we explored everything to do with seasons! We looked at how changes in our physical world affected us; how the differing weather patterns we have, result in us wearing different types of clothes and also what activities we might participate in. Students have explored how the changes in weather patterns affect our physical environment, this includes trees and how the changes in seasons result in our trees and plants to have different coloured leaves. During this time we also explored ‘Migration’ and ‘Hibernation’. Our students were able to explore the different animals that moved across a country or the world in search for food or just simply the need to be within a certain weather type (migration). We also learnt about hibernation, when animals fall into a deep sleep to save up their energy and survive the winter times,
