Nothing can separate us...

Easter buns have disappeared from supermarket shelves and Easter eggs, if there are any still left at home, are depleting in number. Shops are now refocusing their attention on the next big thing on the calendar...

It can be easy to let Easter slip into the background of our busy lives and think about it again next year. But that might be missing the whole point.

Jesus’ death and resurrection marked an ending and a new beginning.

While God’s love never wavered, sin had created a barrier between humankind and himself. The only way for the barrier to be broken, and the relationship restored, was for God to deal with it himself. And so he sent his own dearly loved Son Jesus, to pay the penalty of sin through his death on the cross... and victorious resurrection that first Easter Sunday.

An ending to the barrier that separated us and a new beginning to the life and relationship that we were always meant to have.

We can now live a life, secure in the knowledge that nothing can separate us from God’s love.

Paul, in the book of Romans, says it like this:

‘Yes, I am sure that nothing can separate us from the love God has for us. Not death, not life, not angels, not ruling spirits, nothing now*, nothing in the future*, no powers, nothing above us, nothing below us, or anything else in the whole world will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ Romans 8:38,39 ICB (NLT *neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow)

Life certainly has its share of challenges, but it is comforting to keep in mind that nothing we will ever face will be able to separate us from God’s love. If you ever find yourself wondering... remember God’s love at Easter... and just how far he went to ensure that nothing separates us from him.

God keep you safe, refresh and bless you as you spend some time away from school routine.
