Newsletter Term 4 Week 7
Dear Families,
With the production's excitement coming to a close, our focus has been on getting back into the rhythm of regular school life. We are currently in the testing phase for school reports and teachers have been busy collecting post data and starting their report comments this week. I would like to thank all the specialist teachers who have stepped into the classrooms for a day to provide some valuable time to the teachers for them to have a day to write reports.
Next week will be business as usual while teachers continue to provide targeted learning opportunities for their students and finish off any remaining testing.
Safety Week:
The week after next is our allocated safety week, during this week teachers will be delivering lessons on how the students can remain safe at school, at home and while out in the community. This week we had the RACV come out to deliver lessons to all the students on road safety and next week we have St John’s Ambulance Australia coming to teach the students about CPR.
School Expectations:
While we are coming towards the end of the Term we still have four weeks of learning and fun ahead of us. Over the next two weeks we will have a focus on school expectations using our STAR Values Matrix, this matric clearly states the expected behaviours in the different areas of the school. Students will look at different parts of the matrix and come up with ways in which they can positively upload our STAR values. At the start of the year, students wrote mission statements for their classes and teachers will be revisiting these with students reflecting on how they have progressed in their class mission.
Future Members of Parliament?
Earlier this week I heard some rumblings in the Year 2 classes about a request for a casual clothes day. As an educator I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to encourage a learning opportunity, I let the students know that if they wrote a persuasive argument and showed they had backing, that with enough ‘grass root support,’ I’d consider the proposal. Before I knew it I had a comprehensive persuasive letter written and a petition with over 100 signatures on it, some of the teachers even broke ranks and added their signatures to the list.
Due to the campaign efforts of Fabien, Elsie and many of their Year 2 peers I have agreed that Friday 8th December will be a casual clothes day with a ‘touch of Christmas’ encouraged.
Year 6 Topic Expo:
This afternoon the Year 6 class had their Topic Expo in the hall .
The Expo was on interactive dioramas based on Finding Nemo Jr.
On a final note:
I would like to thank the continued support of the school community while I am in the position of Acting Principal. Have a pleasant weekend everyone.
