Kildare Wins SunSafe Student Ambassador Program!

Term 3 saw Kildare participate in the Melanoma Institute of Australia's SunSafe Student Ambassador Program. This exciting initiative, held in Wagga for the first time, saw Stella Bennett, Scarlett Jenkins, Abbey Hodge, and Hailey Cruz embark on a journey to learn about Melanoma and develop skills to share this knowledge with their peers.

Over two dedicated days, the girls immersed themselves in informative sessions, brainstorming creative ideas, and finally, culminating their efforts in a compelling video entry for the national competition.

Their hard work paid off! Kildare was proudly announced as the winner of the 2023 SunSafe Student Ambassador video competition! Danielle Goss, a Melanoma Nurse and Peter St Clair from the Amie St Clair Melanoma Foundation presented the girls with their well-deserved prize money and trophy at school assembly on Monday.

The generous prize of $4000 will be used to significantly enhance sun safety measures here at Kildare. Following student discussions with Mr. Browne, the funds will be allocated towards installing shade over the tables and chairs around the oval, providing much-needed protection for our students during recess and lunch.

A special thanks to Mrs. Jones, Mr. Steman, and all the staff and students who played a vital role in creating the winning video.

We are excited to witness the positive impact this initiative will have on our students' in the years to come.
