To our faithful Leighland Christian School Community,

What a joy and a privilege it has been to lead and serve our school and our school communities as we take time to look back over the 2023 school year. As we come to this time of reflecting on the year that has been at both Ulverstone and Burnie, we want to acknowledge God’s goodness and faithfulness in all that has been achieved.

We have celebrated many significant events and milestone moments with the children from Kinder Graduation through to the Year 12 Leavers Dinner with many, many things in between. We have welcomed new staff to both campuses and seen them embrace who we are and who we want to be as a school. We have also farewelled some as they move into new seasons or answer new callings on their lives; and to each one we wish them all the best as they settle into these new areas of ministry.

The Board and Leadership team launched the new Strategic Plan that encompasses the vision, mission and core values for Leighland Christian School, to guide us as we step into the incredibly exciting future that God has in store for our students, staff and families.

We have witnessed upgrades of the school facilities and the beginning of a new build on the Burnie Campus. Students have been able to select subjects never even thought of at this time last year and they have loved the new diversity in their learning programs.

Teachers have written new courses and subjects that embraced design thinking and project-based learning, showcasing student work and achievement while partnering with industry outside the school.

Lego League teams took on the world and developed gracious professionalism as they competed at each level and saw their hard work reap tremendous rewards. We have continued to work in partnership with our parents by offering information sessions on our new learning management platform, SIMON, and the parent portal, PAM. Along with this we saw the introduction of continuous reporting, and though we remain on a journey with this, we are thrilled with the progress that has been made this year. Community and connections have been built through events such as our welcome BBQ’S, Christmas in July, Mother’s and Father’s Day events, the Celebration Services, Pre-Kinder, sporting carnival and the like.

As always, our campuses remain very busy places. As we come to a time of rest, relaxation and recuperation, may God draw you and your family to Him this Christmas as we take time to remember the greatest gift ever given through Jesus. As we unwrap gifts, may our thoughts be drawn to that little baby that was unwrapped from swaddling clothes in the manger many years ago. As we sing carols, may we take time to listen to the words and embrace the meaning shared in them. As we celebrate the season with our families, may we be reminded to celebrate all that God has done for us individually, for our families and in our school over the past year.

From our staff to your families, may the God of Peace, Love and Joy be present in your hearts and celebrations this Christmas. We trust and pray that you have a wonderful holiday, and we look forward to seeing our new and old families returning in 2024.

God Bless,
