Year 9 Advance Surf Camp

Wednesday 8 November to Friday 10 November 2024

The Year 9 Advance Class left for Lorne for Camp on Wednesday 8 November. Everyone was pumped and ready to go. We set up our tents and had lunch after a long, noisy, and hot drive there.

After, we drove to Anglesea to go surfing. It was a lot of fun, everyone caught waves and had lots of laughs falling off multiple times. We missed out on completing our run swim runs on the first day since it was too cold (YAY!!).

We returned to camp for showers and a homemade meal. We climbed back on the bus after dinner since it was time for a night walk (more like a hike). The hike was enjoyable, and we got to hear Mr Evans' scary stories.

We returned to camp for a good night's sleep (which was much needed). Everyone got up early to prepare for the big day. We then headed to mountain biking which included a 16 kilometre trip from Anglesea to Torquay. There were many jumps, hills and stacks. It was an amazing experience full of laughs of happiness and horror. At the end of the ride we experienced breathtaking views, and everyone was having a good time.

We stopped for lunch and ice cream after the bike trip. Then we headed to our next activity. We went sea kayaking and got to catch some waves in our kayaks too! The weather was perfect, and everyone had an amazing time. We then had to do run swim runs after kayaking which we all dreaded but enjoyed in the warm sun.

After that, everyone was exhausted. Back at camp everyone was scrambling to study their signals for our test after dinner. We did well, with only 10/85 incorrect. We went to the park for a night walk after dinner and then to bed.

We got up early the next morning and headed out for more run swim runs. Then we took quick showers and prepared to leave camp. We couldn't leave without stopping for a quick shop at the outlet stores. We also stopped at Maccas and KFC for lunch before returning to school.

It was a great couple of days and we got to do some really fun activities whilst being around amazing people. Thank you so much to Mr Evans for organising the trip and Ms McConville and Jenna for helping make the experience that much better.
