State Hockey - Intermediate Boys

Thursday 9 November 2023

On Thursday 9 November Claire Bruce and I took the Year 9/10 (Intermediate) boys to compete in the State Hockey Championships.

We had a tough first game against Hume Anglican College who were the previous year's winners. We started off slow and a bit nervous and had a tough first half, where Hume scored two goals. The second half we did play with more confidence and managed to keep them at bay, however our shots on goal just wouldn't fall our way. It was one of those games where everything fell Hume's way 🙁 I feel if we had of played Hume later in the day we may have had a better result, although I must say we were the only team that kept Hume to a low score.

Our other two games we smashed them! 4 - 0  (Wodonga) and 6 - 0 (Geelong).

Unfortunately it was luck of the draw and we missed out on playing in the grand final.

We came second in our pool and overall we came third (goal difference). It was a great experience for our boys as now we know what we are up against for next year!

If you see the boys around, please congratulate them on an awesome effort and also Claire Bruce for amazing coaching and encouragement throughout the day too. Such an amazing effort to get to state in the first place!

Special mention to Hunter Mead for scoring four goals throughout the competition and Jules Ingram for scoring one of the most amazing crazy goals we have seen!
