National Schools Poster Competition 2023

NATIONAL SCHOOLS POSTER COMPETITION

Well done to all our students who entered the National Schools Poster Competition 2023 this year.  This year's entries were, again, amazing and very informative.  Thank you to Louise Olsen-Kettle for her tireless efforts co-ordinating and working with the students.

Huge congratulations to Jasmeen, Elliott, Mason, Riarn, Zach, who were the WINNERS of the Years 3-4 Division with their investigation and poster entitled "Which fertiliser is best for the garden?".  The winning team not only won $100 for our school, they also won $100 to split between their team.  And this year, there was a bonus reward due to funding from a Commonwealth Department of Education Grant, with each school who had a winning or honourable mention team receiving two Mini Solar Vehicle (SV) kits for the school, and each student in a winning or honourable mention team receiving a Mini SV kit!

Here are some general statements from our 3/4 winning team.  Their poster investigated “What is the best fertiliser?”

‘I got into gardening since I did this work, because I had to take care of plants and I loved it. I’m growing tomatoes now,” Zach

“The process was fun and the data we got was amazing.” Mason

“I learnt how to work in a team and measure plants.” Elliott

‘I enjoyed spending time with Louise and how to properly use a ruler.” Jasmeen

‘I really enjoyed learning how to measure plants and see which fertiliser helped them grow the most.” Riarn
