Visual Arts
Welcome back to Visual Arts in 2025! The Art room is bright, cheerful and colourful as we venture into Term 1.
The year has started with a whole school collaboration inspired by the Paul Kelly song, From Little things, Big Things Grow. The song relates to us as individuals and as a school community. Our knowledge and experiences grow as we progress from Prep to Year 6 with so many adventures along the way! Each student made and decorated a flower using various mediums and attached it either to the wooden tree or poster. A very inspiring message for all!
School collaborations: Foundation to Year 6 Portraits, Painting and Pablo Picasso………..
Across the school, there has been a focus on self portraiture and self identity.
The foundation students were introduced to the routines in our Art lessons. They found out where to line up, where all the materials are kept and most importantly how to sit on a tall STOOL in the Art room. The students have been encouraged to try new mediums and have learned about collage. The children created and drew beautiful houses to express themselves and their families.

The Year 1/2 students also drew images of their families and homes using textas, markers and icy pole sticks. We discussed the values and importance of our families, how we love and care for each other.

Pablo Picasso..who? Why? The Year 3/4 students explored the Art work of Pablo Picasso and were inspired by his Blue and Rose periods. The students drew their own self portraits and painted them in monochromatic colours.

Realism, Cubism and Abstract Art were three styles favoured by Pablo Picasso. The Year 5/6 students explored Picasso’s portraits and painted their own abstract self portraits.
