Message from the Principal

St Peter’s School - an empowered faith community to enrich the world.

Welcome to Week 2 of Term 1!

What an amazing start it has been! As I walk around the school, the students are settled and working calmly- even our Foundation students! At our first assembly last Friday we welcomed all new students to our school-  all Foundation students, Ramm in Year 2 and Yashwin in Year 3 while also welcoming back Rey in Year 6. We warmly welcome these families to our wonderful community. I look forward to connecting with many of you at our Meet and Greet sessions on Thursday afternoon or at the Welcome BBQ and games on Friday between 3:15-5:15pm. The Welcome BBQ is a P&F event and I urge you to read the 'P&F' page of the newsletter to find out how you can be part of this wonderful group.

Uniform

It has been lovely to see so many students in the green and gold polo top with the green shorts or skort or our green and white dress. This is our uniform and I thank those families who have purchased them. PSW have advised that stock will be available from the end of this month. They are encouraging families to place an order for items required as these will be prioritsed over walk in sales at the retail store. Please access online orders at: https://www.psw.com.au/schools/st-peter-s-school-clayton.html

All students need to be in these tops every day from Monday 3 March.

Building works

It is necessary for us to carry out roof maintenance at St Peter's on all our buildings. To ensure the safety of students, workers and all community members, temporary fencing will be installed to block off areas. Due to this, there will be no access at the main gate on Mary St from Friday 14 February until Friday 7 March. We encourage families to use the gate at Rose St for drop off and pick up.  There will be limnited access through the school office.

Contents of the newsletter

I encourage you to read each page of this fortnightly publication. We use this as a platform to share what is happening at St Peter's. Our 'Religious Education' page will include examples of how we are bringing faith alive at St Peter's- how we live the Gospels and work towards our mission:  "To provide a vibrant learning culture for our community of learners to thrive, guided by faith and compassion." Future editions will include a 'Learning Spotlight' page that will highlight student work to show the learning that is taking place. The 'Learning and Teaching' page will provide insight into the different  strategies and approaches we are using to ensure that all students flourish. Wellbeing is an important part of school life. On this page this week there is an important  message  regarding supporting our students with anaphylaxis. Please read this information carefully.

'Administration' is always a useful page to read- Margaret and Rashida will include dates for school fees, forms that need to be completed and other office based information.

'Community information' will include information about High school open days, Kinder information and other local groups. This week we have included a flyer from Monash Family Services with information about a free program. There is also information regarding using the school crossing safely.

We like to share the work of the staff at Camp Australia who provide a wonderful service for our community providing care before and after school as well ads during school holidays and on closure days.

In this Jubilee Year, themes of reconciliation and renewal, pilgrimage and hope, are prominent.

The Jubilee Prayer

Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us

in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your Kingdom.

May your grace transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.

May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos

in the sure expectation of a new heaven and a new earth, when, with the powers of Evil vanquished, your glory will shine eternally.

May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven.

May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth.

To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever.

Amen
