Sunday 2nd March is Clean Up Australia Day. This is a special day where people take to their local parks, beaches, bushland and streets to help make a difference to the environment. People sign up to clean and collect rubbish from their surrounding area.
Our school will be participating in this event instead of a regular whole-school assembly next week. This is a house competition event.
All staff and students will assemble out on the oval at 2.30pm where the House Captains and Environmental Captains will go over what is going to happen.
Each group will be accompanied by 4 members of our student leadership team. These leadership members will have coloured rubbish bags for each of the house colours. Any rubbish students pick up can be placed into the bag belonging to their House colour.
All teams will meet back at the oval by 3:15pm to place bags of rubbish in front of the house banners.
The house that collects the most rubbish will win the coveted Golden Wheelie Bin trophy.
Students are invited to wear casual clothes on Friday, February 28th for a gold coin donation in support of the Children’s Tumour Foundation. This fundraiser, organised by our Junior School Council, will help families affected by Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), a condition that impacts some in our school community. Recognition ribbons will also be available for purchase for $4. Let’s dress casual for a great cause!
The Department of Education has revised the policy relating to the provision of NDIS and external therapy in schools. From Monday, 17th February, all external therapy services, including NDIS-funded providers, must be formally approved before sessions can take place on school grounds.
Providers already working with Trafalgar Primary School Students have already been notified. Parents and providers must complete a ‘Request to Provide Therapy on School Grounds’ form. Some therapy sessions may be temporarily paused until approvals are processed . Teachers and staff will work closely with families to support students during this transition.
This change ensures that therapy services align with Child Safe Standards and do not disrupt student learning. If you have questions about this process, please contact the school office.
We are excited to announce that the first Progress Reports -Grade Point Average (GPA), will be released on Friday, 28th February.
What is GPA?
A Grade Point Average (GPA) is a score used by the school to assess each student’s learning behaviours every month. This score provides an overall reflection of how students are demonstrating our school values:
✔ Be Safe
✔ Be Respectful
✔ Be a Learner
GPAs are calculated using ratings from all subjects, with students achieving a GPA of 3.8 or above being recognised as “GPA All-Stars.”
Why is this important?
These reports help students, parents, and teachers track progress, identify strengths, and highlight areas for improvement. If you are concerned about your child’s GPA, we encourage you to:
What’s Next?
Students who achieve high GPAs will be acknowledged through GPA All-Star Recognition, and those consistently performing at an outstanding level will work towards Bronze, Silver, and Gold GPA milestones.
For more details on how GPAs work and how they are recognised, please visit our school website or contact your child’s classroom teacher.
We look forward to celebrating student growth and success throughout the year!
