School Uniform – Supporting Families & Setting Expectations

Wearing the correct uniform helps students take pride in their school and fosters a sense of belonging. The School Council-approved uniform policy requires students to wear:

✔ Plain black shorts and shoes (no logos or branding).

✔ A note from home if they are out of uniform for any reason.

Families who need assistance with uniform items can contact the office, as support may be available through State Schools Relief or other school resources.

We understand that replacing shoes can be costly. If students have small logos on their shoes, they may use a black permanent marker to help meet uniform expectations.

Thank you for your support in ensuring all students wear their uniform with pride.

Our School Uniform Policy was reviewed late 2024 for implementation this year.  School Uniform is a proud and distinctive part of the Trafalgar Primary School identity. It is a practical dress code which has Parents and Friends Association support and has been made compulsory by School Council.

Toilet & Hall Pass System – Keeping Learning Time a Priority

To minimise disruptions to learning, our Toilet & Hall Pass system helps ensure students remain in class whenever possible. Students are encouraged to use the toilet at break times, and the number of passes available per class will remain limited to:

Promote accountability & visibility – Staff can better track movement around the school.

Maximize learning time – Encouraging students to plan ahead and stay in class.

Teach responsibility – Helping students develop independence and thoughtful decision-making.

If your child has a medical or individual need requiring frequent access, please speak with school leadership so we can ensure appropriate support.

First Aid & Anaphylaxis Training for Staff

Ensuring the safety and well-being of all students is our top priority. Our new First Aid Officer, Sam, lead all staff  through a training session on Anaphylaxis and First Aid on Tuesday, 18th February.

This training ensures that all staff are prepared to respond to medical incidents, anaphylactic reactions, and first aid situations quickly and effectively. Parents can feel assured that our team is well-equipped to provide the highest level of care in any emergency.

If your child has an anaphylaxis plan or any updated medical needs, please ensure this information is up to date with the school office before the start of the new school year.

SunSmart Policy – Hat Reminder for Term 1 & Term 4

As part of our SunSmart Policy, all students must wear a hat while outside during Term 1 and Term 4. Students who do not have a hat will be required to stay in designated shaded areas during recess and lunch.

✅ Hats must be worn outside for sun protection.

🚫 Hats (including hoods) must be removed indoors.

📍 Students without hats must stay in the designated Blue or Orange shade areas.

Please ensure your child has a clearly named hat at school each day. Thank you for supporting our efforts to keep students safe in the sun.

New Approach to Rubbish & Eating Areas – Trial Begins in February

In response to feedback, we are trialling a new approach to food and rubbish management in 2025. From Monday, 24th February, students will be encouraged to:

Enjoy eating at the right times – Our students will continue to have 5 minutes before recess and 10 minutes before lunch to eat before heading off to play.

Keep our yard clean & eat in designated areas – If eating outside (e.g., from fundraising stalls), students must sit in a designated eating area that has bins:

  • Picnic tables opposite the Gym
  • The Green Area
  • Seating between the portables and the basketball court

🚫 No food-sharing – To keep everyone safe, students should avoid sharing food, as some students have allergies or dietary needs.

Leave eating areas tidy – All students are expected to place rubbish in the bins before leaving.

Our Environmental Leaders have begun promoting this initiative at our Whole School Assembly. Families can support this change by reminding students to use the bins provided.
