We are thrilled to launch our Year 9 Beyond program in 2025! With a strong team, an increased focus on wellbeing and a commitment to guiding students through the transition from childhood to young adulthood, this program is set to be an exciting journey of growth and discovery.
Year 9 Beyond is a dynamic blend of The Rite Journey, discipleship, health studies, work studies and character development. It is designed to help students embrace discomfort, take on challenges, build meaningful relationships, develop self-confidence and recognise the impact they can have on their community.
A key highlight of this initiative is the introduction of three dedicated tribe leaders: Luke McClean, Sarah Hingston and Alana de Bruyn. While they are not qualified teachers, they bring a wealth of experience, expertise and relevant qualifications to support and guide students through this pivotal stage of their lives.
We cannot wait to see the impact of Year 9 Beyond as students step into new challenges, grow in resilience and build strong connections with those around them.
The Beyond Team
At DCS, we start the year connecting our parents with the classroom teacher. Our ‘Getting to know your child’ parent and teacher interviews occur in the second week of term in 2025.
These Parent/Teacher Interviews are being held today (Wednesday 12th February) from 3.30pm-9.00pm. Primary Team will be available to meet in the JILOA Centre and Alpha HQ and the Secondary Team will be holding their interviews in the Secondary classrooms.
The aim of these ‘Getting to know your child’ interviews is to provide an opportunity for you to meet with your child’s teacher right at the start of the school year and to discuss with them anything that can assist your child’s teacher to teach him or her more effectively. Students in Kinder - Year 8 do not need to attend. We encourage Year 9 students to attend these interviews alongside their parents, as this provides a valuable opportunity for them to take an active role in their learning journey.
It's not too late to book an interview. The link to Parent Lounge has now closed but bookings can be made by calling the school office on 64231373 before 2:30pm.
Discussions and chats with teachers can happen throughout the term, where you can partner with the teachers and communicate with them, via email, phone or, where no restrictions limit us, in person. The second formal interviews will occur in early Term Three to discuss the Semester One student achievements.
What is 5&2? It is a place for our secondary students to connect before the school day commences.
We all know the importance of a good breakfast (and how much teenagers eat!) so delicious fruit and snacks will be available to help start their day.
Commencing tomorrow, Thursday 13th February, 5&2 will be held every Thursday morning in the Secondary building.
