Thank you to all families for an incredible start to the year. It has been a joy to walk through the school and see students engaged with one another, the DCS team and their learning. We have a remarkable community here at DCS and we know that this comes with incredible partnership.
Each week our Primary community meets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in Jiloa for Assembly. The assemblies commence at 8:30am and on each of the days there is a different focus. Each of these assemblies has a different focus:
Monday Assembly - Commencing the week together as a community with a presentation, learning a Bible verse, praying and sharing announcements for the week.
Worship Wednesday Assembly - Our Year 5/6 teachers will lead the Primary School in worship and prayer as a community.
Friday Assembly - An opportunity to celebrate what has happened in the week. Students will receive certificates and our school leaders will share a Bible verse and pray for the community.
All families and friends are warmly welcomed to each of the assemblies.

At DCS, we start the year connecting our parents with the classroom teacher. Our ‘Getting to know your child’ parent and teacher interviews occur in the second week of term in 2025.
These Parent/Teacher Interviews are being held today (Wednesday 12th February) from 3.30pm-9.00pm. Primary Team will be available to meet in the JILOA Centre and Alpha HQ and the Secondary Team will be holding their interviews in the Secondary classrooms.
The aim of these ‘Getting to know your child’ interviews is to provide an opportunity for you to meet with your child’s teacher right at the start of the school year and to discuss with them anything that can assist your child’s teacher to teach him or her more effectively. Students in Kinder - Year 8 do not need to attend. We encourage Year 9 students to attend these interviews alongside their parents, as this provides a valuable opportunity for them to take an active role in their learning journey.
It's not too late to book an interview. The link to Parent Lounge has now closed but bookings can be made by calling the school office on 64231373 before 2:30pm.
Discussions and chats with teachers can happen throughout the term, where you can partner with the teachers and communicate with them, via email, phone or, where no restrictions limit us, in person. The second formal interviews will occur in early Term Three to discuss the Semester One student achievements.
Dan Warlow is a Christian music artist and entertainer. We are excited to have Dan presenting to our Primary students at 2:00pm on Friday 21st February. Parents and younger siblings are welcome to join us in Jiloa Centre for this special time.
Our Primary Athletics Carnival is being held on Wednesday 26th February at the Don Oval. The Don Oval (which is directly beside our school STEM Centre and Secondary basketball court) will be transformed into a vibrant arena where budding athletes showcase their skills and sportsmanship. The Primary Athletics Carnival is not just about winning ribbons; it is a celebration of every child's effort, dedication, passion for sports and team spirit.
From sprinting to distance, shot-put to turbo javelin, our carnival offers a diverse range of events tailored to accommodate various interests and abilities. Whether your child is a seasoned sprinter or a newcomer eager to explore new avenues, there's something for everyone to participate in and enjoy.
As parents, your support plays a crucial role in making the Athletics Carnival a memorable experience for your child. Whether it is cheering from the sidelines, volunteering as a helper or simply offering words of encouragement, your involvement goes a long way in nurturing their confidence and enthusiasm for sports.
Get ready to cheer! Bring along a camp chair and your travel mug for a delicious hot drink and let's make the Primary Athletics Carnival a day to remember—one filled with laughter, cheers and unforgettable moments that showcases the heart of DCS!
As the DCS Community we love to bless our parents with a complementary coffee. This year DCS Community have the privilege to have the Love in a Cup coffee van at our Primary Athletics Carnival on Wednesday 26th February.
Hosting the Love in Cup van means we have the opportunity to bless their organisation. Love in a Cup is a not-for-profit organisation which raises funds to enable countries less fortunate than ours to have access to fresh clean water.
It is something we can all take for granted but so many rely on it.
*There is no price for our coffees but if you feel you would like to contribute a donation then we ask kindly if you could bring cash, for the donation please.
We look forward to seeing you on the day!
