James Millane

Education in Faith Leader

A heartfelt thank you to all the students, families and staff who have attended the beginning-of-year Mass. It has been truly uplifting to see so many members of our community coming together in worship. Your presence strengthens our faith and connection as a school and parish family.

CONFIRMATION CHANGE OF DATE

As communicated recently on Seesaw please note that we have had a date change regarding Confirmation from Bishop Ireland's office. Confirmation will now be Wednesday 10th September 6-7pm instead of Thursday 11th September.

2025 - A JUBILEE YEAR

A Jubilee Year is a significant time for the global Church. Celebrated every 25 years, it is an invitation to renew our faith, deepen our connection with Christ and strengthen our relationships within our Catholic communities. Whilst there is a focus on pilgrimage to the Vatican for celebrations and worship (and many young Australian Catholics will be heading over), we will have opportunities to celebrate here at school throughout the year.

The Jubilee Prayer

Father in heaven,

may the faith you have given us

in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,

and the flame of charity enkindled

in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,

reawaken in us the blessed hope

for the coming of your Kingdom.

May your grace transform us

into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.

May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos

in the sure expectation

of a new heaven and a new earth,

when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,

your glory will shine eternally.

May the grace of the Jubilee

reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,

a yearning for the treasures of heaven.

May that same grace spread

the joy and peace of our Redeemer

throughout the earth.

To you our God, eternally blessed,

be glory and praise for ever.

Amen

Season of Lent (Beginning with Ash Wednesday 5 March 2025)

This Lent, don’t forget about Easter!

The season of Lent is a time of Fasting, Prayer and Almsgiving but it isn’t always very simple. Fr Michael Buck, a young priest, gives tips on how we can have a more fruitful Lenten season.

Caritas and Project Compassion

This year we are yet again contributing to Caritas and their work to support those in need through the Project Compassion boxes. Our Faith and Social Justice leaders will give a brief explanation of Caritas and their work at Assembly and this year, all classes will receive a donation box, please put spare change into this box to make a big change to those in need.

Our Faith Journey at St Mary’s Primary School

This term, we are deepening our understanding of God, religion, and life. We are exploring key concepts such as God as a Trinitarian being, His relationship with us, and how we express our faith through our religious traditions. Additionally, we are learning about the rich history of our school, founded in the Catholic faith and shaped by the charism of the Presentation Sisters, inspired by the mission of Nano Nagle.

As we approach the end of the term, I warmly invite you to join us for our Stations of the Cross, a moving presentation by our students. Our Year 5/6 students are thoughtfully preparing this special liturgy, offering a meaningful way to reflect and prepare for Holy Week and Easter.
