Terrific 2

Term 1 Week 6 2025 -  Friday 7th March

What have we been up to?

Can you believe it’s halfway through Term 1?! All of the students have come in with such a positive attitude, Well done! This week we have resumed our traditional learning program with the conclusion of the Swimming Program.

In Literacy

We’ve been focusing on phonics, handwriting, and our author study of Nick Bland, particularly exploring the book The very noisy bear and The very hungry bear. Students have been very proactive in their literacy learning.

Please remember that READERS ARE CHANGED EVERY MONDAY. Students will take 2 books each Monday, where they can alternate throughout the week. Please remember, students need to read these everyday as they are all in grade 2 now.

Readers will only be changed on a Monday. This may be repetitive for your child however that is the purpose. We are focusing on fluency and confidence.

In Maths

In maths, we have been working on rounding three- and four-digit numbers to the nearest 10 and 100, helping us develop a strong understanding of place value. We have also been practicing addition and subtraction with regrouping, focusing on adding and subtracting 10, 100, and 1000 from four-digit numbers.

Leader in Me and Respectful Relationships Over the past two weeks, students embarked on their Leader in Me journey by focusing on Habit 1: Be Proactive. They learned the importance of taking responsibility for their actions, making positive choices, and understanding that they are in control of their own responses. Alongside this, they also started their Respectful Relationships lessons, which helped them recognize and identify their own emotions, describe different situations that may trigger these emotions, and compare their emotional responses with those of their peers.

Science We have continued our Science focus for this term, Chemical Sciences. During this topic students will be learning all about how objects are made of different materials that have observable properties and how everyday materials can be physically changed or combined with other materials in a variety of ways for particular purposes.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s progress.

Thank you for your support, Kayla Mugford Hannah Jackson & Sam Downs
