Grade 5

Literacy

Students are continuing their 'World Lakes' core knowledge unit, focusing on lakes of Eurasia and Australia over the coming fortnight.

After focusing on narrative texts for two weeks, students will learn about the features of persuasive texts. This is to prepare for NAPLAN.

For our grammar lessons, students will be learning about sentence structures; different types of verbs; and direct and indirect speech.

Numeracy

In week 5 and 6, students will be learning about data analysis, and multiplication and division.

We encourage students to practice multiplication facts (times tables) up to 10 x 10 at home so that they can hold these in their long-term memory.

Inquiry

For our 'Going Global' unit, students are beginning their projects where they will choose their own country to research. They will be focusing on a range of Geographical concepts. We look forward to sharing these with you all in the last week of Term 1.
