Grade 4

Literacy Block
Over the past two weeks, students have finalised their work on World Mountains, focusing on questions such as how are mountains formed and which animals live on mountains. This week students have shifted focus to the topic of Medieval Islamic Empires, with students investigating key questions such as who is Muhammad and how did he influence the history of Islam.
Additionally, students have been developing their reading fluency while providing constructive feedback to their peers. In handwriting, they are focusing on improving letter formation and fluency by practising passage writing.
Spelling
Students started their spelling program last week. Students will complete spelling lessons for 25 minutes four times a week.
Numeracy
The grade 3 students have completed their first unit on addition and subtraction. They are now moving onto fractions, beginning with identifying halves, quarters, fifths and tenths in shapes and collections before moving into counting, converting and ordering fractions and mixed fractions.
