PREP NEWS

Dear Families,

We have had a fantastic time in Prep, learning new skills and making new discoveries!

Here’s a look at what we’ve been working on:

LITERACY

This week, we met Peter the Penguin to help us learn the /p/ sound and Tim the Turtle to help us learn the /t/ sound. We have been practising handwriting for these letters and listening carefully to how these sounds appear at the beginning of words. Can you find anything at home that starts with /p/ or /t/?

MATHS

We have been exploring counting in different ways and learning how to use dice to help us with number recognition and number sense. We’ve also been practising writing the number 2 using the saying: "Curve around and slide to the right."

INQUIRY

We have continued to learn about friendship and our school values. This week, we read Our Class is a Family and discussed how we can show compassion to others. We also read The Dot and explored the idea of creativity and how we can express it in different ways. Next, we will be focusing on the school values of ambition and courage.

HOMEWORK

We have sent home our first week of homework. A friendly reminder that homework is due back next Wednesday, along with library books. Each student has been given a school satchel to keep their library books and homework in. We will begin calling this our "satchel routine", with students returning them every Wednesday.

IMPORTANT REMINDER

There will be a Wellbeing Incursion during school hours next Monday, 24/02/25, from 2:30 - 3:30 pm. Please ensure consent and payment are completed via Compass.

Please reach out to your classroom teacher if you have any questions!

Thank you for your support!
