It is not often we take the time to celebrate our Mathematics program, but it plays a crucial role in our students' daily learning.

In Year 9, we have launched a new structure with two math classes: one class moves at a faster pace and covers the Year 9 curriculum and selected topics from the Year 11 Mathematical Methods curriculum, while the other class works methodically through the Year 9 curriculum. Both classes began the year by exploring ratios.

Our Year 7 math classes are off to a great start, with students establishing new routines including: daily reviews, times tables flashcards, mini whiteboard worked examples and navigating their JacPLUS textbook online.

Year 8 students, now experienced in using the textbook, have started the year by reviewing integers and practicing all four operations.

We are fortunate to have incredible support in our math classrooms, with our fantastic associates always ready to assist students who need extra help or further explanations. We use explicit teaching strategies in all our classes, ensuring frequent check-ins for understanding.

While we recognise that not all students naturally love math, we firmly believe that high-quality teaching and building students' confidence helps them develop a sense of achievement—often surpassing their own expectations. 

We have some fantastic events coming up over the next few weeks!

Next week, our Year 7 students will be heading to camp at Forth. This will be a great opportunity for them to connect with their peers, have fun and reflect on the path they want to take in 2025. We are looking forward to an exciting and meaningful experience for all.

Today, we hosted a Swimming Day, where we informally assessed students’ swimming competency while also enjoying some friendly competition and fun. Alongside swimming, students had the chance to play volleyball, cricket and enjoy some free time.

We are looking forward to seeing our students challenge themselves, build connections and create lasting memories in the coming weeks!
