From the

Leader of Learning

Mrs Lynne Slater

THRIVE is the academic mentorship program designed to support senior students at St Aloysius College throughout their HSC journey. We understand that navigating the HSC is about more than just managing 10–12 units of academic study—it requires a holistic approach to learning and personal growth.

Through a combination of our dedicated teachers and expert guest speakers, THRIVE offers a diverse range of sessions covering essential skills such as organisational strategies, memory techniques, study planning, and career guidance. The program also includes subject-specific workshops, valuable insights into NESA, ATAR, and scholarship opportunities, as well as strategies to foster positive well-being and mental health.

In short, THRIVE is designed to equip students with the tools they need for HSC success and beyond. The program runs on Tuesday afternoons during Period 5, offering both in-school and at-home learning opportunities.

Year 11 had the opportunity to hear from our former Year 12 students who offered hints and tips guided by their experience in navigating the HSC.

Year 12 had a presentation on the HSC and scaling from our new Leader of Intervention. Here is a copy of the presentation for your reference.

Next week we have a group of Year 12 students heading down to the University of Wollongong for a Discovery Day.

At our opening Mass this week we celebrated students' success across the HSC, VET courses and NAPLAN from 2024. Congratulations to the following recipients:
