Level 6 Camp
From Monday 24th until Friday 28th February, Level 6 students will venture 3 hours to East Gippsland, to the Coonawarra Farm Resort, for an exhilarating week of outdoor adventures. The camp is set in natural bushland, and the surrounding environment provides enriching experiences that children will treasure and recall for years to come.
Students are accommodated in well-equipped, modern cabins that have access to shower and toilet facilities in each area. There is a spacious dining room and provision for indoor activities.
The camp offers a range of challenging activities that build self-esteem, confidence, and teamwork and is an integral part of the Level 6 curriculum. Various activities may include a high ropes course, a giant swing, a maze, a flying fox, rock climbing, canoeing, hut building, raft making, and much more. When faced with the more adventurous activities, students will be encouraged to accomplish their own personal challenge.
Qualified camp supervisors, along with the Rangeview staff, provide a safe and supportive environment at all times. Evening programs are fully supervised. Students are required to develop initiative, support each other, and work in team situations.
We wish our Level 6 students a fabulous final school camp at Rangeview!
NAPLAN - Level 3 and 5
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) will commence on Wednesday 12th March for all students in Level 3 and Level 5.
NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills that students are learning through the school curriculum and allows parents and carers to see how their child is progressing against the national standards and over time.
In 2025, the Level 3 Writing assessment will continue to be completed on paper. All other assessments are computer-based, adaptive testing, where the test presents questions which may be more or less difficult depending on a student’s responses.
NAPLAN dates at Rangeview Primary School are as follows:
Wednesday 12th March
9.00-11.00 Level 3 Writing
12.00-1.30 Level 5 Writing
Thursday 13th March
9.00-11.00 Level 3 Reading
12.00-1.30 Level 5 Reading
Friday 14th March
9.00-11.00 Level 3 Conventions of Language
12.00-1.30 Level 5 Conventions of Language
Monday 17th March
9.00-11.00 Level 5 Numeracy
12.00-1.30 Level 3 Numeracy
Where possible, we may arrange for individual students who are absent at the time of testing to complete missed tests at another time during the school’s test schedule after the main cohort test.
Students are not expected to study for NAPLAN. You can support your child by reassuring them that NAPLAN is a part of their school program and reminding them to simply do their best.
Some familiarisation and explanation of NAPLAN is useful to help students understand and be comfortable with the format of the tests. Teachers will ensure students are familiar with the types of questions in the tests and will provide appropriate support and guidance. ACARA does not recommend preparation for NAPLAN or the use of services by coaching providers.

If you have any concerns, please speak to your child’s teacher.
Assessment at Rangeview in Term 1
NAPLAN as discussed above is a once a year assessment, however teachers assess student achievement in a variety of ways and this is an ongoing process throughout the school year. One assessment used by teachers throughout the school year is 'Essential Assessment'.
Essential Assessment is an online assessment program that allows teachers to pre-assess each student within each strand or sub-strand of the Victorian Curriculum. Essential Assessment assists teachers to analyse student results and plan teaching by informing the achievement standards that each student has understood and misunderstood. As the year progresses, Essential Assessment is then used to monitor learning and inform achievement.
At Rangeview all students in Level 1-6 take part in Essential Assessment in Term 1. Foundation students take part from Term 2.

Late Arrivals - Signing in your Child
A reminder that students arriving late to school, must be accompanied to the school office by a parent and signed in at the Compass kiosk by the parent.
Students are not permitted to sign themselves in when arriving late. If a student arrives late that is not accompanied, parents will receive an unexplained absence note via the Compass Parent Portal.
