What a fabulous start to Term 1 we have had at Rangeview! It has been lovely to see students settling into their new grades, making new friends and starting to engage with their learning. We have had a number of wonderful activities take place across the school, including District Swimming, Parent / Teacher Get to Know You Interviews, National Sorry Day Recognition, 5/6 Book Club, Chess Club, a School Council meeting and the opening of our new Junior Playground.
We have completed the election process for our School Council 2025. I am pleased to declare the poll and announce the members of Rangeview School Council for 2025.

I would like to thank Sartaj Singh and Paul Wong who are stepping down from Council this year for their wonderful support and contributions. I would also like to thank all of the current and new members for their willingness to contribute to the school in this way. I look forward to working with this group over the coming terms and I encourage the community to approach your School Council members with any feedback or queries you may have.
The school we have is the one we build together.
We commenced the term with our first Pupil Free Day on Tuesday 28th January. Staff participated in professional learning around Phonics, Building Thinking Classrooms, The Resilience Project (TRP), Rights, Resilience and Respectful Relationships (RRRR), eSmart and Anaphylaxis and Asthma training. There was also time for start-up processes including team meetings and classroom preparation for the start of the new term. It was an invaluable learning time together and also allowed a smooth transition for new and returning students on Wednesday.
We have another Pupil Free Day planned for Term 3 on Wednesday 13th August. The staff will be working on this day with Peter Liljedahl on his pedagogical model 'Building Thinking Classrooms.' This evidence based pedagogy outlines 14 teaching practices that optimize conditions for students to think, engage and learn.
We will have 2 more Curriculum Pupil Free Days over Terms 2 – 4 and one Professional Practice Day (PPD) which is Pupil Free. These dates are yet to be determined.
Our Their Care program will be operating on Wednesday 13th August for any families who require care on this day.
Once each term we have a whole school celebration day. This term we will be celebrating Harmony Day on Friday 21st March. There will be a focus on cultural diversity and students will be working in buddy grades on activities and lessons that educate and celebrate our community’s cultural diversity.
We will encourage our students to come to school in a costume that represents their cultural heritage and we will have a whole school assembly to begin the day. We welcome all families to this assembly.
On Wednesday this week we officially opened the new Junior Playground. This new play space has been designed for and with the Junior school students and is a fabulous new addition to our grounds. Aimed at Level 1 - 3 students this is a bespoke play environment with a full Ninja Warrior style course that can be run from start to finish, or enjoyed as individual elements.
The Levels had a chance on Wednesday to play for a brief session as we ran opening ceremonies across the day - some of the remarks of the junior students included; 'I used the Monkey Bars for the first time!' 'Its hard, but it's also fun!'
We once again thank Matt and the team from Rocket Box for delivering on this wonderful new space.
We look forward to meeting lots of families at our Welcome Soiree on Wednesday 12th March at the Heatherdale Cricket Pavilion. This event is open to all families and is a child free event.
Thanks to the Their Care Team for providing our Charcuterie on the night.
We have a wonderful P&F Committee at RPS and they truly make the school what it is - through events that they run, fundraising that they organise, community connections that they facilitate, and childhood memories that they instil.
I would encourage any parent who has a little time to give, even if it is only on occasion, to sign up to our wonderful P & F committee and help us build our school.
