From the

Head of  Senior School

Dear BMGS Senior School Community,

The Senior School has been buzzing with activity this term, and I continue to be impressed by the way our students are embracing the challenges and opportunities before them.

Our Year 12 students are now deep in their Trial HSC examinations. I commend them for the maturity and resilience they have shown, and I remind them that these trials are an important part of the learning journey – an opportunity to identify areas for growth and refine exam techniques before the final HSC in Term 4. The feedback they receive will be invaluable over the coming weeks. I also extend my thanks to staff for their flexibility with supervision and their support of our students during this demanding period.

Year 10 Wild Ed students have swapped the classroom for snowshoes this week, trekking through the alpine landscapes with Mr Robbins, Ms Stubenrauch and Millie. The Snowshoe Expedition is more than just an outdoor adventure – it’s a chance to build resilience, leadership, and teamwork skills while developing a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

Our student leadership process is also well underway. Thank you to all students and staff for completing the survey. This is an important opportunity to help shape the leadership team for 2026. Student voice is central to our school culture, and your input truly matters.

Looking ahead, there’s plenty to be excited about:

  • Whole School Music Concert – Thursday 22nd August

This annual highlight showcases the incredible depth of musical talent across the school, from beginners to our most accomplished performers. It’s a night of variety, creativity, and community spirit – not to be missed.

  • ISA Soccer, Netball and Hockey Presentation Nights

Our winter sports presentation evenings will celebrate the achievements, sportsmanship, and team spirit of our athletes. It’s a chance to recognise not only results, but also the effort, commitment, and camaraderie that make sport such an important part of school life.

  • Open Day – Friday 13th September

Open Day is an opportunity for us to welcome prospective students and families into our community. It’s a chance to showcase the breadth of opportunities available here – from academics and co-curricular activities to the warmth of our school culture. Senior School students will play an important role as ambassadors, and I know they will make us proud.

As we move into the second half of the term, I encourage all Senior School students to maintain balance – working hard academically while also making time for rest, co-curricular activities, and friendships. The year moves quickly, and these shared experiences, both big and small, are what make our school community vibrant and memorable.

I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming events and celebrating the achievements of our students together.

Warm regards,

Alicia Michielsen
